Caldo UpR32 air-to-water heat pump for cold climates

Caldo Up is an air-to-water heat pump designed for harsh winters: EVI DC inverter technology, a Panasonic compressor and R32 refrigerant keep it heating down to −30 °C. Seven models from 8 to 35 kW serve underfloor heating and fan coils, cool in summer and produce domestic hot water (DHW) up to 60 °C.

Applications

Where it fits

Heating, cooling and hot water. EVI technology for reliable performance down to −30°C.

  • Homes and flats with underfloor heating
  • Fan coil systems for heating and cooling
  • Mountain areas with very cold winters
  • Small commercial premises and offices

Heating down to −30 °C

EVI DC inverter technology keeps the unit running at outdoor temperatures from −30 to 43 °C, with a COP of 4.23 to 4.92 under standard test conditions.

R32 refrigerant

R32 has a GWP of about one third of R410A. Every model uses a Panasonic compressor, and the 8 to 23 kW models have a Shimge DC circulation pump.

Three functions, one unit

Heating flow from 20 to 58 °C for underfloor heating and fan coils, chilled water from 7 to 25 °C for cooling, and DHW from 33 to 60 °C.

Precise Wi-Fi control

Temperature is set over Wi-Fi with 0.1 °C precision, and every model is rated IPX4, protected against splashing water and suitable for outdoor installation.

How to choose the right model

The series comes in seven sizes: 8, 13, 16 and 18 kW on a 230 V single-phase supply, and 23, 28 and 35 kW on a 380 V three-phase supply. As a general guide, the 8 and 13 kW models suit smaller or well-insulated homes, 16 and 18 kW medium-sized houses, and 23 to 35 kW larger homes or small commercial spaces. Check the water flow too, from 1.4 m³/h on the 8 kW model to 6.0 m³/h on the 35 kW. Have a qualified installer confirm the final sizing.

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers on how heat pumps work, efficiency, installation and choosing a Caldorelli series.

Talk to a specialist

Will the Caldo Up heat my home when it is −30 °C outside?

Yes. Its operating range runs from −30 to 43 °C outdoor temperature, thanks to EVI DC inverter technology, which maintains capacity and efficiency in severe cold. As with any air-to-water heat pump, available output and COP vary with the outdoor temperature, so the model should be sized for the local climate.

Can I use the Caldo Up with radiators?

Its heating flow temperature ranges from 20 to 58 °C, which makes the Caldo Up better suited to underfloor heating and fan coils, both of which run on low-temperature water. For radiators that need hotter water, the Caldo Boost series heats system water up to 70 °C. An installer should assess your existing emitters.

Does the Caldo Up also produce domestic hot water?

Yes. Connected to a storage cylinder, it supplies DHW at outlet temperatures from 33 to 60 °C. DHW capacity ranges from 1.28–6.81 kW on the 8 kW model to 13.6–22.6 kW on the 35 kW model. Solitank and Enamel TSE-VS HP tanks complete the system.

Why choose an R32 heat pump such as the Caldo Up?

R32 has a GWP of about one third of R410A, and in the Caldo Up it works with a Panasonic compressor and EVI DC inverter technology. Under test conditions the COP is 4.23 to 4.92 and the EER 2.48 to 3.43, with heating, cooling and DHW from a single unit.
